Tyler, TX, AKC Field Trial Program

AKC Field Trials challenge dogs to showcase their retrieving and hunting abilities in realistic scenarios, helping them develop advanced skills.

At One Shot Retrievers, we provide specialized training to prepare dogs for these prestigious events, ensuring they are equipped to excel and perform at the highest level.

What Are AKC Field Trials?

Field Trials are competitive events where dogs compete against each other to demonstrate their hunting prowess under specific conditions. Judges evaluate factors like:

  • Obedience
  • Marking ability
  • Perseverance
  • Style

Field Trials give dog owners and breeders a chance to showcase the working capabilities of their dogs and breeding stock.

At One Shot Retrievers, our field trial training program is designed to prepare dogs for these rigorous events, focusing on developing the skills necessary to excel in the competition. Our program is tailored to meet the high standards of AKC Field Trials, ensuring that each dog is trained to perform with precision, endurance, and consistency.

To maintain the quality and effectiveness of our training, we only accept dogs with specific pedigrees that are bred for these trials. This selective approach ensures that the dogs in our program have the natural abilities and traits required for success.

If you're considering entering your dog in field trials, we can also assist you in selecting a puppy with the right lineage, maximizing the chances of success in these prestigious events.

Is Our Program Helpful for AKC FIELD TRIALs?

Absolutely! Our Program at One Shot Retrievers can prepare dogs for AKC Field Trials.

In our puppy head start program, we lay the foundation for gun training and focus on building confidence and introducing basic obedience skills to dogs between 4 and 6 months old.

For older dogs, our Basic Gun Dog program spans 4 months and covers essential skills like obedience, collar conditioning, and force fetch. By the end, dogs confidently retrieve marked targets and remain steady after the shot is fired.

After mastering the basics, our Advanced Gun Dog program, lasting 6 to 10 months, delves into advanced skills such as blind retrieves, multiple marks, and handling walk-up scenarios.
