Dog Boarding and Training

At One Shot Retrievers, we offer a professional, safe environment for both dog boarding and training near you. Our facility is designed to provide the structure dogs need to thrive while you're away, giving them plenty of exercise and attention.

Training goes beyond simple obedience, helping your dog become more confident and reliable in various situations. Using e-collar training, our experienced trainers focus on your dog’s development and well-being, ensuring tailored care for both short-term boarding and specialized training programs.

How is Dog Boarding at One Shot Retrievers?

When you board your dog with us, they will have access to 34 acres of open land for daily play and exercise, including two ponds where they can enjoy engaging activities. Each dog receives two to three play sessions per day, keeping them active and engaged.

We also provide quality food during their stay, but clients are also welcome to bring their dog’s preferred food to maintain consistency with their home diet.

Our facilities are designed to keep your dog comfortable, with secure and monitored spaces that are cleaned and maintained regularly. The team at One Shot Retrievers understands the importance of maintaining a familiar routine, and we strive to create an environment where your dog feels well cared for throughout their stay.

With on-site trainers and 24/7 monitoring, your dog is in the best hands while you’re away.

Which Types of Dog Training Do We Offer?

All-Breed Obedience Training
Our all-breed obedience training is structured to establish control and clear communication between you and your dog. We work on the fundamentals—sit, stay, heel, here—while gradually introducing more complex commands as your dog progresses. Consistency, structure, and precise corrections with e-collars allow us to guide your dog toward reliable obedience.

Gun Dog Training
For those seeking to train their dog for fieldwork, our gun dog training program is specially designed to build the skills necessary for retrieving in hunting scenarios. We have four technical training ponds on-site, offering the perfect environment for water-based retrieving exercises, a key component in developing a strong and capable retriever. Our gun dog training builds on obedience foundations, but it goes further by focusing on specialized tasks such as retrieving downed birds, holding steady under pressure, and working in various terrains and conditions.

Which Methods Do We Use During Dog Training?

At One Shot Retrievers, we use e-collar training as part of our approach to help reinforce commands and improve communication between handler and dog. The method we employ is based on indirect pressure, where the collar is used to provide steady corrections that align with the dog’s behavior. This method ensures the dog understands the expectations and responds promptly to commands.

There are many misconceptions about e-collars, but when used correctly by a trained professional, this tool is highly effective in ensuring obedience without causing harm. Our trainers are skilled in applying e-collar techniques with precision, ensuring that corrections are firm but fair.

The e-collar approach promotes learning and allows us to establish a clear structure for your dog, resulting in consistent and reliable behavior both at home and in the field.
